Information

Dr. Sara Fulignati is a Junior Researcher at the Department of Chemistry and Industrial Chemistry, University of Pisa. She obtained her PhD at the same university in 2019. Her main research interests are in the fields of the catalytic exploitation of waste biomasses and the valorization of their derivatives under the Green Chemistry perspective. In particular, she studies the synthesis of platform-chemicals of industrial relevance starting from models and real feedstocks under acid conditions and innovative heating systems (microwave, ultrasound). The exploitation of these platform-chemicals to give renewable monomers, bio-fuels, and chemicals, mainly through hydrogenation, hydrogen transfer, etherification, and esterification reactions performed both in batch and flow systems, falls within the research activity of Dr. Sara Fulignati. Moreover, she investigates the fractionation of waste biomasses, both lignocellulosic and algal ones, in order to valorize all of the components to added-value compounds. She has more than 30 articles in international, peer-reviewed journals.
