James R. Johnson, M.D. is Professor of Medicine at the University of Minnesota and former director of the Molecular Epidemiology Unit at the Minneapolis VA Medical Center, where he was an Infectious Diseases consultant. Dr. Johnson received his training in internal medicine and infectious diseases at the University of Washington in Seattle. His research interests include the molecular pathogenesis of urinary tract infections, the virulence properties, ecology, and phylogenetic aspects of uropathogenic E. coli, and the molecular epidemiology of antibiotic resistance in E. coli.
