Background and Objectives: We aimed to ascertain the predictive power of the left atrial coupling index (LACI) in patients with end stage renal disease (ESRD) for heart failure with preserved ejection fraction (HFpEF). Materials and Methods: This is a retrospective study including 100 subjects between 18 and 65 years of age with ESRD and not on dialysis treatment. Patients were divided into groups with and without HFpEF. The LACI was defined as the ratio of the left atrial volume index (LAVI) to the a′ wave in tissue Doppler imaging (TDI). Statistical analyses were performed, including univariate and multivariate regression analyses. Results: The mean age of the participants was 47 ± 13.3 years. Individuals with HFpEF exhibited a higher LACI. Univariate and multivariate regression analyses demonstrated that the predictive capacity of the LACI for HFpEF was considerably higher than that of the LAVI and other echocardiographic parameters. Conclusions: Higher LACI levels were consistently related to the presence of HFpEF in ESRD patients. The LACI can be easily obtained in daily practice using conventional Doppler echocardiographic measurements during left atrial functional assessments.

Atrial fibrillation (AF) is a chronic and progressive disease. The most common causes of AF are age and hypertension. Treatment is challenging and the main treatment is medical. Despite optimal medical treatment in accordance with guidelines, many patients remain symptomatic. At this stage, catheter ablation-based applications have made a breakthrough in the treatment of AF. Pulmonary vein isolation is the cornerstone of treatment, but pulmonary vein isolation is often not sufficient. Identification of additional isolation sites and targeting these sites has been essential in the treatment of atrial fibrillation. Therefore, new treatment strategies are being sought. While renal sympathetic denervation was initially used in the treatment of resistant hypertension, its efficacy in the treatment of cardiac arrhythmias, including AF, has been established. In this article, we will describe the role of renal sympathetic denervation in the treatment of AF and will not include a comparison with other treatments.

Objective: Insufficient biochemical response to Acetylsalicylic Acid (ASA) is defined as 'ASA resistance'. Its prevalence is unknown. The frequency of death and cardiovascular events rises as the mean platelet volume (MPV) increases in patients with acute coronary syndrome (ACS). Patients with high MPV are more resistant to antiplatelet agents. Our study aimed to evaluate the temporal variability of ASA resistance and platelet reactivity in ACS patients and to demonstrate its relationship with MPV. Material and Methods: Our study is single-center prospective, cross-sectional study. Patients over 18 years of age who were hospitalized due to ACS and underwent percutaneous coronary intervention were included. ASA resistance and MPV measurements were taken at admission and first month. The prevalence and alteration of ASA resistance and its relationship with MPV were analyzed. Results: 115 patients were included in the study. 7 patients (6.08%) were ASA-resistant at first admission and increased to 22 (19.13%) at the 1st month follow-up (p=0.003). A significant numerical increase in ASA resistance was observed in the first month of controls (p
Premature ventricular contractions (PVCs) are common arrhythmias that may impair quality of life and lead to PVC-induced cardiomyopathy. Radiofrequency ablation (RFA) has emerged as an effective treatment option for symptomatic and drug-refractory idiopathic PVCs, yet real-world data remain limited. This retrospective single-center study included 53 patients who underwent RFA for idiopathic PVCs between December 2022 and June 2024. Demographic, clinical, and procedural data were analyzed. Acute procedural success, 6-month recurrence, and complications were evaluated according to PVC localization. The mean age of the cohort was 52.1 ± 12.9 years, and 62.3% were female. Acute procedural success was achieved in 84.9% of patients. The most frequent origin was the right ventricular outflow tract (60.4%), followed by the left ventricle (26.4%), coronary cusp (11.3%), and para-Hisian region (1.9%). At 6-month follow-up, recurrence occurred in 6.6% of patients. Complications included 2 cases of steam pop with mild pericardial effusion and 2 cerebrovascular events, both with complete recovery. Age was identified as an independent predictor of acute procedural success ( P < .05). RFA is a safe and effective treatment for idiopathic PVCs, providing high acute success and low recurrence rates. Early intervention in symptomatic or drug-refractory patients may improve outcomes and help prevent PVC-induced cardiomyopathy.
