Two tetranortriterpenoids, kokosanolide A (1) and C (2) were isolated from the seeds and three onoceranoid-type triterpenoids: kokosanolide B (3), 8,14-secogammacera-7,14-diene-3,21-dione (4) and a 1.5:0.5 mixture of 8,14-secogammacera-7,14(27)-diene-3,21-dione (5) and compound 4 were isolated from the bark of kokossan (Lansium domesticum). Complete 1H- and 13C-NMR data of the triterpenoids 1-5 are reported. The triterpenoids’ structures were elucidated primarily by means of high field 1D- and 2D-NMR, IR and HRMS spectral data. Triterpenoids 1-5 exhibited moderate to strong antifeedant activity against the fourth instar larvae of Epilachna vigintioctopunctata.
A novel chromene, (S)-2-methyl-2-(4-methylpent-3-enyl)-6-(propan-2-ylidene)-3,4,6,7-tetrahydropyrano[4,3-g]chromen-9(2H)-one (1), was isolated from the leaves of Peperomia pellucida (Piperaceae). The chemical structure of 1 was determined by spectroscopic methods and comparison with those related compounds previously reported.
The title compound, 3,5-bis(2-hydroxybenzylidene)piperidin-4-one (3), was prepared via reaction of 2-hydroxybenzaldehyde (1) and 4-piperidone (2) under microwave irradiation in the presence of 10% NaOH solution. The compound was fully characterized from its UV, IR, NMR and MS data.
A new cycloartan-type triterpenoid, 9,19-cyclolanost-24-en-3-one,21,23-epoxy-21,22-dihydroxy (21R, 22S, 23S), was isolated from the leaves of Lansium domesticum Corr cv kokossan. The chemical structure of 1 was elucidated on the basis of spectroscopic data, X-ray diffraction and comparison with those related compounds previously reported.
The Aglaia genus belong to Meliceae family is unique plant species because the presence of rocaglate and rocaglamide which is so far isolated only from Aglaia genus, indicate that type of this compound as a chemical marker for the genus of Aglaia. This type of compound known to have strong activity, such as insecticide and cytotoxic. This study describe the isolation, structure elucidation, and cytotoxic activity of an isolated rocaglate compound. Dried stembark of A. argentea extracted with methanol and partition between n-hexane, ethyl acetate, and n-butanol, respectively The extracts were tested against P-388 murine leukemia cells and the ethyl acetat showed strongest activity with IC50 value of 15.5 mg/mL. The ethyl acetate then was separated and purified with chromatography technique to obtain isolated compound 1. The chemical structure of isolated compounds were elucidated by spectroscopic methods including one and two-dimensional NMR as well as high-resolution mass spectrometric analysis and identified as a methyl rocaglate. Compound 1 showed strong cytotoxic activity with an IC50 value of < 0.1 μg/mL.
