Luis Yam is a remote sensing engineer with over ten years of experience in algorithms and applications for Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) systems. He earned his B.Sc. in Telecommunications Engineering from the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM) in 2006. In 2010, Luis earned his M.Sc. in Information and Communication Technologies Research through the ERASMUS MUNDUS Joint Master program between the Université Catholique de Louvain, Belgium, and the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC), Spain. In 2016, he completed his PhD in Telecommunication Engineering from UPC, where his research focused on enhancing simulation tools and developing autofocusing and feature detection algorithms for satellite-based SAR imaging applications in maritime environments.
Luis joined Dares Technology in 2017 and currently works as a Senior R&D SAR engineer in the technical department, where he leads the development of advanced data processing algorithms for ground-based and drone-based SAR systems, as well as multi-temporal InSAR applications. He is also involved in the collaboration and management of European institutional projects.
