The fast spectrum kurtosis (FSK) algorithm can adaptively identify and select the resonant frequency band and extract the fault feature via the envelope demodulation method. However, the FSK method has some limitations due to its susceptibility to noise and random knocks. To overcome this shortage, a new method is proposed in this paper. Firstly, we use the binary wavelet packet transform (BWPT) instead of the finite impulse response (FIR) filter bank as the frequency band segmentation method. Following this, the Shannon entropy of each frequency band is calculated. The appropriate center frequency and bandwidth are chosen for filtering by using the inverse of the Shannon entropy as the index. Finally, the envelope spectrum of the filtered signal is analyzed and the faulty feature information is obtained from the envelope spectrum. Through simulation and experimental verification, we found that Shannon entropy is—to some extent—better than kurtosis as a frequency-selective index, and that the Shannon entropy of the binary wavelet packet transform method is more accurate for fault feature extraction.
The early fault of rolling bearing is weak and may not be readily detected. To overcome this issue, the present paper comes up with a rolling bearing fault‐diagnosing approach based on adaptive asymmetric real Laplace wavelet (ARLW) filtering, which is on the strength of water cycle optimization algorithm (WCA). Firstly, ARLW is introduced to filter the initial vibration signal since its waveform has the same asymmetric structure as the fault impact. Secondly, the optimum center frequency and bandwidth of ARLW is found out adaptively by applying the WCA through the proposed square envelope fault energy ratio (SEFER). Finally, envelope analysis is conducted to the narrowband signal obtained by the optimum ARLW filtering, and its envelope spectrum presents the rolling bearing fault characteristic frequency apparently. The proposed approach and two existing approaches are all tested in four signal analysis cases. The results are analyzed, and the conclusion is that the approach proposed by the present paper can detect the early fault of rolling bearing more accurately. The present research is valuable for diagnosing the early fault of rolling bearing.

This paper investigates the effect of the turbo-generator internal power-angle on the rotor radial vibration characteristics under air gap eccentricity faults. Firstly the air gap magnetomotive force, the magnetic permeance and the magnetic flux density of the eccentricity faults is deduced, and the formula of the magnetic pull per unit area is obtained. Then the restrictive factors of the magnetomotive force and the internal powerangle are analyzed. The unbalanced magnetic pull (UMP) that acts on the rotor is further deduced, and the rotor vibration characteristics are given. Finally the experiments are taken on a SDF-9 non-salient fault simulating generator to verify the theoretical results. The investigation results of this paper will be beneficial to air gap eccentricity faults diagnosis of turbo-generator.
