Dr. Daniel K. Gladish is a Professor Emeritus in Biological Sciences at Miami University. He received a B.S. in Botany from the University of California and a Ph.D. in Plant Biology from the University of California. In the past, his research interests included the effects of temperature on the development and physiology of root systems using physico-chemical techniques and computer image analysis. More recently, he has been studying the effects of flooding on root anatomy and development in legumes, especially vascular aerenchyma formation and programmed cell death. He is now using high-resolution 3D virtual reconstruction tomography of root apical meristems to re-evaluate histogenic pattern formation.
