Full Professor of Physical Chemistry at the University of Santiago since 2008. During the PhD and post-doc periods research have been conduced at the University of Santiago, University of Swansea (UK), ITODYS-CNRS Paris 7 (France) and University of California Santa Cruz (USA).
Research topic may be included in the field of Physical Organic Chemistry with applications in both colloid and supramolecular chemistry. I have a large experience on reaction mechanisms both in water and non-aqueous solvents. Reactivity studies in colloidal aggregates focused on micelles, microemulsions and vesicles by using different formulations as well as new surfactants. In recent years the borderline between supramolecular and colloidal chemistry has been explored by the introduction of supramolecular surfactants. Because its formation is a reversible process their colloidal aggregates can be broken as a response to external stimuli.
The international dimension is manifested in his appointment as associate editor of RSC Advances in 2015.
