Biography

Maciej Sowa, Ph.D., Eng, is an Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Chemistry, Silesian University of Technology (SUT), where he obtained both his M.Sc. Eng. in Industrial and Engineering Chemistry and Ph.D. in Chemical Technology. He serves as Technical Manager of the Corrosion Testing Laboratory and Supervisor of the Chemistry Students Research Society. He has been the principal investigator of projects funded by NCN, NCBR and the Ministry of Science and Higher Education. His research focuses on plasma electrolytic oxidation (PEO) of Ti, Ta, Nb, Zr, Al, Mg, Cu, Zn and their alloys, and electrochemical corrosion studies using impedance spectroscopy and potentiodynamic methods. His current work includes PEO of Cu alloys, Al–Si–O catalyst synthesis and Ti–Mg composites for bone regeneration. He is the author of ~50 JCR-indexed publications and several patents. His key achievement includes leading the NCBR LIDER project, enabling the development of advanced, industry-relevant PEO-based surface engineering solutions. He has been a member of SITPChem since 2014, Guest Editor of Solid State Phenomena (2015), and a recipient of the Ministry scholarship for Outstanding Young Researchers (2021) and the Prof. T.
