Hua Wei is a doctor, a member of the State Key Laboratory of Food Science and Technology, and Deputy Dean of the Graduate School at Nanchang University. He graduated from Jiangxi University with a bachelor's degree and Tianjin Institute of Light Industry with a master's degree. Then, he studied in Germany and Finland for nearly six years. He is one of the leaders in major disciplines in Jiangxi Province, and a recipient of a special subsidy from the Jiangxi Provincial Government. Moreover, he is a director of the Chinese Society of Microbiology, a member of the Microecology Branch of the Chinese Preventive Medicine Association, a deputy chairman of the Microecology and Health Education Professional Committee, a deputy chairman of the Microecology and Medical Professional Committee of the China Science and Technology Industrialization Promotion Committee, and a chairman of the Jiangxi Society of Microbiology. His main academic research directions include: the screening and evaluation of probiotics in traditional fermented foods and healthy/special populations; molecular-level research on the interaction of probiotics, pathogenic bacteria, and intestinal epithelial cells; and research on the metabolism of special probiotics and their functional proteins and polysaccharides, and their impact on the microecological balance and health of the body.
