Prof. Roshanak Ghods is an Associate Professor in the Department of Persian Medicine (PM) at the Iran University of Medical Sciences (IUMS) in Tehran, Iran. She received her medical degree (MD) from Rafsanjan University of Medical Sciences in 2001 and her Ph.D. in PM from IUMS in Tehran in 2014. Prof. Ghods has over 12 years of experience in clinical research and has published and presented several national and international peer-reviewed articles related to PM. Her research interests include PM, cardiovascular diseases, diabetes, metabolic syndromes, wet cupping, leech therapy, and developing standard diagnostic tools in PM. She has supervised many postgraduate students in the completion of their thesis and has published several books. Prof. Ghods was academically promoted from assistant to associate professor in June 2020, becoming the first woman to reach this position among Persian Medicine departments and schools in Iran. She is a member of the Iranian Academy of Science, Hikmat, Islamic, and Traditional Medicine group since 2015. In 2018, she completed an intensive one-year MBA course, and in 2021, she completed an intensive course in Chinese medicine. Prof. Ghods is dedicated to mentoring the next generation of researchers and practitioners in PM and to promoting the integration of traditional medicine with modern healthcare practices.
