Short-Term Electricity Load Forecasting (STELF) through Data Analytics (DA) is an emerging and active research area. Forecasting about electricity load and price provides future trends and patterns of consumption. There is a loss in generation and use of electricity. So, multiple strategies are used to solve the aforementioned problems. Day-ahead electricity price and load forecasting are beneficial for both suppliers and consumers. In this paper, Deep Learning (DL) and data mining techniques are used for electricity load and price forecasting. XG-Boost (XGB), Decision Tree (DT), Recursive Feature Elimination (RFE) and Random Forest (RF) are used for feature selection and feature extraction. Enhanced Convolutional Neural Network (ECNN) and Enhanced Support Vector Regression (ESVR) are used as classifiers. Grid Search (GS) is used for tuning of the parameters of classifiers to increase their performance. The risk of over-fitting is mitigated by adding multiple layers in ECNN. Finally, the proposed models are compared with different benchmark schemes for stability analysis. The performance metrics MSE, RMSE, MAE, and MAPE are used to evaluate the performance of the proposed models. The experimental results show that the proposed models outperformed other benchmark schemes. ECNN performed well with threshold 0.08 for load forecasting. While ESVR performed better with threshold value 0.15 for price forecasting. ECNN achieved almost 2% better accuracy than CNN. Furthermore, ESVR achieved almost 1% better accuracy than the existing scheme (SVR).

In this paper, a blockchain-based data sharing and access control system is proposed, for communication between the Internet of Things (IoT) devices. The proposed system is intended to overcome the issues related to trust and authentication for access control in IoT networks. Moreover, the objectives of the system are to achieve trustfulness, authorization, and authentication for data sharing in IoT networks. Multiple smart contracts such as Access Control Contract (ACC), Register Contract (RC), and Judge Contract (JC) are used to provide efficient access control management. Where ACC manages overall access control of the system, and RC is used to authenticate users in the system, JC implements the behavior judging method for detecting misbehavior of a subject (i.e., user). After the misbehavior detection, a penalty is defined for that subject. Several permission levels are set for IoT devices’ users to share services with others. In the end, performance of the proposed system is analyzed by calculating cost consumption rate of smart contracts and their functions. A comparison is made between existing and proposed systems. Results show that the proposed system is efficient in terms of cost. The overall execution cost of the system is 6,900,000 gas units and the transaction cost is 5,200,000 gas units.

Due to the unpleasant and unpredictable underwater environment, designing an energy-efficient routing protocol for underwater wireless sensor networks (UWSNs) demands more accuracy and extra computations. In the proposed scheme, we introduce a mobile sink (MS), i.e., an autonomous underwater vehicle (AUV), and also courier nodes (CNs), to minimize the energy consumption of nodes. MS and CNs stop at specific stops for data gathering; later on, CNs forward the received data to the MS for further transmission. By the mobility of CNs and MS, the overall energy consumption of nodes is minimized. We perform simulations to investigate the performance of the proposed scheme and compare it to preexisting techniques. Simulation results are compared in terms of network lifetime, throughput, path loss, transmission loss and packet drop ratio. The results show that the proposed technique performs better in terms of network lifetime, throughput, path loss and scalability.

In the modern world, there are numerous opportunities that help in the detection of electricity theft happening in the realm of electricity grids due to the widespread shifting of people from old metering infrastructure to advanced metering infrastructure (AMI). It is done by studying the consumers’ energy consumption (EC) readings provided by the smart meters (SM). The literature introduces a variety of machine learning (ML) and deep learning (DL) strategies to use EC data for identifying power theft in smart grids (SGs). However, the existing schemes provide low performance in terms of electricity theft detection (ETD) due to the usage of imbalanced data and using schemes in an individual manner. Moreover, the existing detectors are validated using a limited number of performance evaluation measures, which are not suitable for conducting model’s comprehensive validation. To tackle the above mentioned problems, an ML boosting classifiers based stacking ensemble model (MLBCSM) is proposed followed by adaptive synthetic sampling technique (ADASYN) in the underlying work. Data preprocessing followed by data balancing and classification are the three major parts of the model introduced in this work. Besides, the EC data acquired from the consumers’ SMs is used for detecting electricity theft. Moreover, the simulation results reveal that MLBCSM combines the benefits of adaptive boosting (AdaBoost), extreme gradient boosting (XGBoost), histogram boosting (HistBoost), categorical boosting (CatBoost), and light gradient boosting (LGBoost). Additionally, the model’s validation is ensured via different metrics. It is deduced via extensive simulations that the proposed model’s outcomes are superior to those produced by the individual models in terms of ETD.

Cloud computing offers various services. Numerous cloud data centers are used to provide these services to the users in the whole world. A cloud data center is a house of physical machines (PMs). Millions of virtual machines (VMs) are used to minimize the utilization rate of PMs. There is a chance of unbalanced network due to the rapid growth of Internet services. An intelligent mechanism is required to efficiently balance the network. Multiple techniques are used to solve the aforementioned issues optimally. VM placement is a great challenge for cloud service providers to fulfill the user requirements. In this paper, an enhanced levy based multi-objective gray wolf optimization (LMOGWO) algorithm is proposed to solve the VM placement problem efficiently. An archive is used to store and retrieve true Pareto front. A grid mechanism is used to improve the non-dominated VMs in the archive. A mechanism is also used for the maintenance of an archive. The proposed algorithm mimics the leadership and hunting behavior of gray wolves (GWs) in multi-objective search space. The proposed algorithm was tested on nine well-known bi-objective and tri-objective benchmark functions to verify the compatibility of the work done. LMOGWO was then compared with simple multi-objective gray wolf optimization (MOGWO) and multi-objective particle swarm optimization (MOPSO). Two scenarios were considered for simulations to check the adaptivity of the proposed algorithm. The proposed LMOGWO outperformed MOGWO and MOPSO for University of Florida 1 (UF1), UF5, UF7 and UF8 for Scenario 1. However, MOGWO and MOPSO performed better than LMOGWO for UF2. For Scenario 2, LMOGWO outperformed the other two algorithms for UF5, UF8 and UF9. However, MOGWO performed well for UF2 and UF4. The results of MOPSO were also better than the proposed algorithm for UF4. Moreover, the PM utilization rate (%) was minimized by 30% with LMOGWO, 11% with MOGWO and 10% with MOPSO.
