In developing nations with an abundance of natural water resources, fishing is a major source of income. When distributing resources between fisheries and other sectors, and preserving competitiveness in the fisheries industry, access to livelihood assets continues to be a key factor. However, vulnerability of livelihood assets and other economic and social variables have been severely affecting fishermen's livelihood. This article examines livelihood income vulnerability in the context of capital assets and the effects on local fishermen's livelihood and well-being. A survey sample size of 532 rural households based on a descriptive research design was used. Financial capital, human capital, social capital, and natural capital all made an enormous contribution to the earnings of fishermen and household heads in the Manchar Lake basin. The use of multiple regression analysis enabled new insights into how the livelihood assets characteristics affected their household income choices. The main objective of this investigation is to see whether access of livelihood capital assets affect local fishermen's livelihood income in the Manchar Lake basin. In the coastal belt of the Manchar Lake basin, resource acquisition plays a critical role in eradicating poverty. For the fishermen in the Manchar Lake basin, the current regime could further prioritize investing in fish trading infrastructure and improving essential facilities like social networks, education, skillsets, improved technology, and credit facilities in order to raise the livelihood income of fishermen and either reduce or alleviate poverty. These findings provide insight into fishermen's entry and exit for those who are planning livelihood shifts, and offer recommendations on how to overcome the constraints faced by the fisheries industry. Furthermore, insight into livelihood sustainability in order to improve the quality of life and income of fishermen domestically and nationally is also suggested.

A significant amount of available research employs panel data analysis to evaluate the association between foreign direct investment, the quality of institutions, and human development parameters, meaning that there are currently relatively few studies on the topic that focus on one country in particular. It is crucial to investigate this relationship in the context of an individual or single country because different countries have different aspects, different access to statistics, and different political and economic environments. To contribute to the paucity of research on the topic of an individual-country viewpoint, the present investigation looks into the relationship between well-being (HDI) in Pakistan and foreign direct investment (FDI) and institutional quality (INQ) over the years 2002 to 2022. To investigate both the positive and negative co-integrated parameters, we utilized the non-linear autoregressive distributed lag (NARDL) method. The findings support the asymmetric long- and short-term relationships between foreign direct investment and well-being as well as the long-term associations between institutional quality and well-being. Every percent increase in institutional quality leads to a 0.662 percent rise in well-being. Conversely, a 1% decrease in institutional quality leads to a 0.212 percent decline in well-being. Given Pakistan’s evolving economic performance, financial resources are necessary for all forms of economic endeavours. Nonetheless, the findings of the investigation indicate that neither the long-term effects of foreign direct investment and the short- and long-term effects of institutional quality on well-being are inconsistent. In terms of legislation, the primary goals are supposed to be to advance institutional quality (INQ) and foreign direct investment (FDI), with the goal of ensuring Pakistan’s sustained well-being.

Worldwide, the development of massive hydropower projects is becoming more common, especially when it comes to attempts to mitigate environmental degradation and increase a nation’s energy capacity. People affected by projects (PAPs) are forced to relocate in order to support large-scale development initiatives, which puts their lives and livelihoods at jeopardy. In comparison to the value of infrastructure development, which is mostly reaped by distant stakeholders, it comes at a high cost. In relation to CSR/resettlement and rehabilitation programs carried out by construction corporations in Pakistan’s hydropower development, this study on the quality-of-life (QoL) and happiness indicators of PAPs is being conducted. The analysis of factors affecting happiness and other aspects of quality-of-life indicators, including job and livelihood opportunities, housing, health, infrastructure, social interactions, environmental sustainability, inclusion, equity, and diversity, is the goal of this study. Using a questionnaire survey approach, data were directly gathered from PAPs, and about 424 replies were obtained to help with the model’s development. Structural equation modelling has been applied in conjunction with multivariate statistical analysis to analyse data. The outcome demonstrates the essential connections between the concepts that were taught in light of human, social, environmental, physical, and economic problems. The results also show that project supporters’ relocation and rehabilitation efforts fell short of what was needed to improve the quality of people’s lives. As a result, a conceptual framework specifically tailored to the hydropower construction region has been created and verified to provide PAPs with a high-quality living environment.

China and Pakistan have maintained significant bilateral commercial and mutually beneficial relationships throughout history. The China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) is a multifaceted growth strategy that revolves around several unique initiatives. The Chinese government anticipates investing a significant amount in the CPEC on multiple projects in general. In today's globalized environment, CPEC is a strategy for ensuring economic prosperity for both countries and is seen as an important breakthrough in this area. To examine the CPEC operational scenario, its confines, difficulties, and advantages, the mutually beneficial economic connection between China and Pakistan was extensively studied in this paper. To compare the general public's opinion of it with intended public perceptions, an empirical approach was employed. To examine the general public's opinions of it with a focus on public perceptions of foreign investment, an empirical approach was used. A PLS-SEM analysis aimed at improving the community well-being of Pakistan. The findings of the PLS-SEM direct pathway testing showed that IV and DV have a direct association, supporting the accepted hypotheses H1–H6. We also weigh up the respondents’ respective educational attainment together with gender as controlling variables; however, the results for both of these factors revealed no correlation in opposition to CPEC. This proves categorically that there is no relationship between the DV and either gender, education, or both. In this study, H1a, H2a, H4a, H5a, and H6a had significant associations in relation to age in the role of a moderator, although further moderators did not exhibit significant associations to some extent. Age substantially moderates the correlation between CPEC and IV, illustrating the moderating effect of age on the association. All factors in the present investigation are subject to a considerable relationship with one another; furthermore, a number of them have an intermediate to high correlation with one another. The research carried out demonstrated that CPEC has the potential for significant beneficial socioeconomic implications for the two nations, while the Pakistani public believes it will provide them with several opportunities for long-term social sustainability. The results of this research will aid decision-makers in formulating policies that are more efficient and support sustainable development.
