Bogusław Machinski is a specialist in the fields of internal diseases, hematology, and clinical transplantology. He was the Dean of the Faculty of Medicine of PUM in the period 2005–2012 and, since 2016, he had been the rector of the Pomeranian Medical University in Szczecin. He graduated from the Faculty of Medicine of the Pomeranian Medical Academy in Szczecin in 1990. Since 2008, he has been employed as a professor at PUM, the Head of the Department of Physiology and Department of General Pathology at PUM, and the Head of the Department of Transplantation at the Myeloma Clinic of Hematology and Transplantology at SPSK1. In recognition of his scientific and research activities, he has received many prestigious awards, including the Medal of the 100th Anniversary of the Recovery of Independence, the Prime Minister, the Minister of Health, the Gold Cross of Merit, and the 10th anniversary medal of the Nobczema Center. He is the winner of the West Pomeranian Nobel Prize in 2018 in the field of basic sciences for his research and implementation of a prototype set for umbilical blood collection. He is a member of the presidium of the Cell Therapy Team of Nervous System Diseases and a member of the Scientific Council of the Institute of Experimental and Clinical Medicine of the Polish Academy of Sciences. He has been a member of the Accreditation Committee of Academic Medical Universities. He is also a founding member of the Stem Cell Therapeutic Excellence Center.
