Dr. Julia Hurwitz is a faculty member of the St. Jude Faculty. She received her PhD from Johns Hopkins University in 1981. In her laboratory, she leads a preventative infectious disease management approach as her team explores the mechanisms behind the immune response to viruses, bacteria, and vaccines in children. Her research interests include vaccine development, immune responses at the mucosal surface, parvovirus vaccine development, how vitamins influence the immune response, how sex influences the immune response, asthma and the immune response, and stem cell/organ transplants and the immune response.
