After studying electrical engineering at Aachen University of Technology (RWTH), Germany, he received his PHD (Dr.-Ing.) in 1995. Afterwards, he worked at Siemens Networks in the field of system engineering and UMTS standardization, and he developed mobile robots based on own patented concepts. In 2004, he was appointed as full professor for computational engineering at Beuth University of Applied Sciences in Berlin. He is author and co-author of various publications and senior member of IEEE.
