Prof. Gianluigi Giannelli is currently a Scientific Director at the National Institute of Gastroenterology, “S. de Bellis” Research Hospital. He completed his PhD studies at the Università degli Studi di Bari. He has studied the biological aspects of therapies to prevent the development of cirrhosis and hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). He has proven experience conducting clinical studies on the validation of biomarkers for diagnosis and management of patients with HCC. He has vast experience in the molecular mechanisms responsible for the progression of HCC and the identification of new therapeutic targets in preclinical models. He has 330 publications with 12004 citations and an h-index of 57 (Scopus, 5 January 2023)
