I am an expert in gut microbiota, specifically in fish and farm animals, and currently, serve as an Associate Professor at the Instituto de Nutrición y Tecnología de Alimentos (INTA), Universidad de Chile. My research mainly focuses on the effect of diet on the composition of microbial communities and host responses. This is combined with the study of pathogenic bacteria and their bacteriophages and endolysins, mostly those that are important in food production areas such as aquaculture. I am the author of more than 70 scientific papers in prestigious international journals, book chapters, and awarded patents in USA and Chile. Recently, I was incorporated to the editorial board of Aquaculture Reports.
