This study examines the combined use of ground penetrating radar (GPR) and Sentinel-1 synthetic aperture radar (SAR) data for estimating soil moisture in a 25-decare field in Sivas, Türkiye. Soil moisture, vital for sustainable agriculture and ecosystem management, was assessed using in situ measurements, SAR backscatter analysis, and GPR-derived dielectric constants. A novel empirical model adapted from the classical soil moisture index (SSM) was developed for Sentinel-1, while GPR data were processed using the reflected wave method for estimating moisture at 0–10 cm depth. GPR demonstrated a stronger correlation within situ measurements (R2 = 74%) than Sentinel-1 (R2 = 32%), reflecting its ability to detect localized moisture variations. Sentinel-1 provided broader trends, revealing its utility for large-scale analysis. Combining these techniques overcame individual limitations, offering detailed spatial insights and actionable data for precision agriculture and water management. This integrated approach highlights the complementary strengths of GPR and SAR, enabling accurate soil moisture mapping in heterogeneous conditions. The findings emphasize the value of multi-technique methods for addressing challenges in sustainable resource management, improving irrigation strategies, and mitigating climate impacts.

Bu çalışmada, Doğu Anadolu Fay Zonu üzerinde meydana gelen 6 Şubat 2023 deprem çiftinden Kahramanmaraş/Ekinözü (Mw: 7.6) Depreminin oluşturduğu, Malatya ili Doğanşehir ilçesi ve ilçeye bağlı Eskiköy beldesi arasında net izlenen yüzey kırığı 1/25000 ölçeğinde haritalanarak, kırığın derindeki devamının, deformasyon genişliğinin ve düşey atımının tespit edilmesi amaçlanmıştır. Yüzey kırığı üzerinde gerçekleştirilen çalışmalarda, (i) Malatya ili Doğanşehir ilçesi ile Eskiköy beldesi arasında ~11 km haritalanan yüzey kırığının daha önce tanımlanmış Çığlık fayını izlediği, (ii) yüzey kırığının deformasyon genişliğinin 3.4 metre ile 8.3 metre arasında değiştiği ve gözlenen en büyük sol yanal yer değiştirmenin Çığlık beldesi yakınlarında 95 cm ve aynı zamanda düşey atımın 75 cm’e ulaştığı saptanmıştır.

Ground-penetrating radar (GPR) is one of the most recommended non-destructive methods in identifying of structural elements of building. The B building of the Cumhuriyet University, Engineering Faculty was assessed by using the 1600 MHz antennas. As a result of evaluate of GPR data, the locations, horizontal and vertical interval, radius and corrosion rate of reinforcements in curtain walls is determined. It is proposed that the main reason of the structural changes in the reinforcements may be caused by groundwater.

Geophysical methods are used in archaeological sites to determine buried remains. Thus, these methods assist archaeological excavation strategies. Archaegeophysical methods are basically based on measuring the physical parameter contrast between the buried archaeological remains and the covering environment. In this study, magnetic and ground penetrating radar methods were applied as geophysical methods in order to contribute to excavation planning. The study area is a historical cemetery and has been used as an interment for about 1000 years. With the information obtained from the field, the research depth was planned not to exceed 3 meters in general, but up to 10 meters of information was produced. The study was carried out to determine possible graves in the area outside the walls of Meydan Cemetery in Ahlat (Bitlis) district. After some data-processing applications to the data of the study areas, magnetic and ground penetrating radar anomaly maps were produced and possible excavation sites were determined.

Bu çalışmada CTP boru hatlarındaki sızıntı kaçak suların yer radarı yöntemi ile tespiti incelenmiştir. Sivas ili Yıldızeli ilçesinde yapımı devam eden Nevruz Barajı sulama sahası inşaatında boru hattı döşenirken bir ucu yüzeyde olmak üzere boru hattına plastik boru bırakılmış, üzeri kapatılarak yüzey düzgün hale getirilmiştir. Burada 160 MHz, 625 MHz ve 250 MHz frekansta 2 farklı Yer Radarı (GPR) cihazı ile ölçü alınmıştır. Deney 3 aşamalı olarak gerçekleştirilmiştir. Birinci aşamada ortam kuru iken 160 MHz ve 625 MHz frekanslarda ölçü alınmıştır. İkinci aşamada yüzeydeki boru yardımıyla boru hattı üzerine 8 ton su bırakılmış, boru hattında su kaçağı var olduğundan yola çıkarak suyun varlığı tespit edilmeye çalışılmış ve sonuçları sunulmuştur.
