The construction and application of an indoor spatial data model is an important prerequisite to meet the requirements of diversified indoor spatial location services. The traditional indoor spatial topology model focuses on the construction of topology information. It has high path analysis and query efficiency, but ignores the spatial location information. The grid model retains the plane position information by grid, but increases the data volume and complexity of the model and reduces the efficiency of the model analysis. This paper presents a hybrid model for interior space based on topology and grid. Based on the spatial meshing and spatial division of the interior space, the model retains the position information and topological connectivity information of the interior space by establishing the connection or affiliation between the grid subspace and the topological subspace. The model improves the speed of interior spatial analysis and solves the problem of the topology information and location information updates not being synchronized. In this study, the A* shortest path query efficiency of typical daily indoor activities under the grid model and the hybrid model were compared for the indoor plane of an apartment and a shopping mall. The results obtained show that the hybrid model is 43% higher than the A* algorithm of the grid model as a result of the existence of topology communication information. This paper provides a useful idea for the establishment of a highly efficient and highly available interior spatial data model.

Rapid and accurate mapping of large-scale landslides is crucial for post-disaster prevention and risk analysis. This research introduces a new method named SPAUNet to address the challenges of noise and information redundancy when utilizing Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) amplitude data for landslide detection. This process is based on constructing a UNet model and incorporating a pixel attention mechanism. This study uses pre- and post-disaster SAR amplitude images as input data, generates seven pairs of dual-band combinations through registration, and inputs them into the model in sequence to automatically explore the best polarization amplitude combination, achieving rapid per-pixel mapping of large-scale landslides. Empirical analysis of landslide events in Milan and Papua New Guinea shows that SPAUNet outperforms the baseline models, improving the F1 score by 17% in Milan and 19% in Papua New Guinea. Moreover, this study emphasizes the importance of choosing the appropriate polarization combination for the region. The results indicate that SPAUNet, along with the appropriate polarization amplitude combination, improves the accuracy and reliability of landslide mapping, aiding disaster assessment and recovery work. This improvement holds significant implications for landslide disaster assessment and post-disaster recovery, providing a valuable direction for further enhancing landslide monitoring capabilities.

Most traditional object detection approaches have a deficiency of features, slow detection speed, and high false-alarm rate. To solve these problems, we propose a multi-perspective convolutional neural network (Multi-PerNet) to extract remote sensing imagery features. Regions with CNN features (R-CNN) is a milestone in applying CNN method to object detection. With the help of the great feature extraction and classification performance of CNN, the transformation of object detection problem is realized by the Region Proposal method. Multi-PerNet trains a vehicle object detection model in remote sensing imagery based on Faster R-CNN. During model training, sample images and the labels are inputs, and the output is a detection model. First, Multi-PerNet extracts the feature map. Meanwhile, the area distribution and object-area aspect ratio in the sample images are obtained by k-means clustering. Then, the Faster R-CNN region proposal network generates the candidate windows based on the k-means clustering results. Features of candidate windows can be obtained by mapping candidate windows to the feature map. Finally, the candidate window and its features are inputted to the classifier to be trained to obtain the detection model. Experiment results show that the Multi-PerNet model detection accuracy is improved by 10.1% compared with the model obtained by ZF-net and 1.6% compared with the model obtained by PVANet. Moreover, the model size is reduced by 21.3%.

A 3D city model is an intuitive tool that is used to describe cities. Currently, level-of-detail (LOD) technology is used to meet different visual demands for 3D city models by weighting the rendering efficiency against the details of the model. However, when the visual demands change, the “popping” phenomenon appears when making transformations between different LOD models. We optimized this popping phenomenon by improving the data structure that focuses on 3D city building models and combined it with the facet shift algorithm based on minimal features. Unlike generating finite LOD models in advance, the proposed continuous LOD topology data structure is able to store the changes between different LOD models. By reasonably using the change information, continuous LOD transformation becomes possible. The experimental results showed that the continuous LOD transformation based on the proposed data structure worked well, and the improved data structure also performed well in memory occupation.

Clouds are important for Earth’s energy budget and water cycles, and precisely characterizing their vertical structure is essential for understanding their impact. Although passive remote sensing offers broad coverage and high temporal resolution, sensor and algorithmic limitations impede the accurate depiction of cloud vertical profiles. To improve estimates of their key structural parameters, e.g., cloud top height (CTH) and cloud vertical extent (CVE), we propose a multi-source collaborative optimization algorithm. The algorithm synergizes the wide-coverage FY-4A (FengYun-4A) and DSCOVR (Deep Space Climate Observatory) cloud products with high-precision CloudSat vertical profile data and establishes LightGBM-based CTH/CVE optimization models. The models effectively reduce systematic errors in the FY-4A and DSCOVR cloud products, lowering the CTH Mean Absolute Error (MAE) to 1.8 km for multi-layer clouds, an improvement of 4–8 km over the original. The CVE MAEs for single- and multi-layer clouds are ~2.5 km. Some bias remains in complex cases, e.g., multi-layer thin clouds at low altitudes, and error tracing analysis suggests this may be related to cloud layer number misclassification. The proposed algorithm facilitates daytime near-hourly cloud retrievals over China and neighboring regions.

Surface solar irradiance (SSI) is a critical factor influencing the power generation capacity of photovoltaic (PV) power plants. Dynamic changes in cloud cover pose significant challenges to the accurate nowcasting of SSI, which in turn directly affects the reliability and stability of renewable energy systems. However, existing research often simplifies or overlooks changes in the optical and morphological characteristics of clouds, leading to considerable errors in SSI nowcasting. To address this limitation and improve the accuracy of ultra-short-term SSI forecasting, this study first forecasts changes in cloud optical thickness (COT) within the next 3 h based on a spatiotemporal long short-term memory model, since COT is the primary factor determining cloud shading effects, and then integrates the zenith and regional averages of COT, along with factors influencing direct solar radiation and scattered radiation, to achieve precise SSI nowcasting. To validate the proposed method, we apply it to the Albuquerque, New Mexico, United States (ABQ) site, where it yielded promising performance, with correlations between predicted and actual surface solar irradiance for the next 1 h, 2 h, and 3 h reaching 0.94, 0.92, and 0.92, respectively. The proposed method effectively captures the temporal trends and spatial patterns of cloud changes, avoiding simplifications of cloud movement trends or interference from non-cloud factors, thus providing a basis for power adjustments in solar power plants.
