During my Ph.D. and post-doctoral position, I led several projects that analyze the functions of genes related to genetic diseases using model organisms and genome-wide analyses. My broad range of knowledge in the field of molecular and developmental genetics has enabled me to initiate preclinical research projects in the lab of Dr. Toshifumi Yokota, University of Alberta, aiming to develop antisense oligonucleotide therapies for spinal muscular atrophy (SMA) and fibrodysplasia ossificans progressiva (FOP). Also, we are currently tackling to develop genome-editing therapies to treat Duchenne muscular dystrophy (DMD).
