Jeffrey P. Walker received a B.E. (Civil) and Bachelor of Surveying degrees with Hons. and a Ph.D. degree in water resources engineering from the University of Newcastle, Callaghan, NSW, Australia, in 1995 and 1999, respectively. He is currently a Professor with the Department of Civil Engineering, Monash University, Clayton, VIC, Australia. He contributes to soil moisture satellite missions at NASA, ESA, and JAXA, as a science team member for the SMAP mission and cal/val team member for the SMOS and GCOM-W, respectively. Dr. Walker was the recipient of the University Medal from the University of Newcastle.
