Prof. Dr. Julie Dumonceaux is a Professorial Research Fellow in the Developmental Neurosciences Research and teaching Department at the University College London. She obtained her Ph.D. in Virology from Université Paris Cité in 2000 and conducted her postdoctoral research at
Albert Einstein College of Medicine from 2000 to 2002. She then worked as a Research Associate at Genethon in 2002–2007 and as a Research Associate/Director at Institut de Myologie in 2007–2016. She joined the University College London in June 2016. Prof. Dr. Dumonceaux’s current work addresses treatment approaches for facioscapulohumeral muscular dystrophy (FSHD) and other neuromuscular disorders. She developed therapies targeting the causative gene of FSDH, namely DUX4. She also investigates general aspects of muscle homeostasis and how these can be exploited to ameliorate wasting muscle conditions. Finally, her work also focuses on biomarkers of disease severity and therapeutic efficacy.
