Dr. Eliseu J. Pereira is an associate professor of entomology and pest management at the Federal University of Viçosa (UFV), Brazil. He received his B.S. in agronomy (2000) and his M.S. (2002) from UFV. He earned a Ph.D. degree (2006) from the University of Nebraska, USA. His appointment as a faculty member has involved teaching (50%), research (40%), and extension (10%). He enjoys mentoring and training undergraduate and graduate students. His research interests include integrative plant–insect interactions, pest management, entomology, plant resistance, genetically modified crops, and sustainable food production. He has served as a reviewer in a number of journals and as an editorial board member for Scientia Agricola, Agronomy, and two other journals. He is a member of the Entomological Society of America, the Entomological Society of Brazil, and the Brazilian Society for the Advancement of Science.
