Dr. Faustus Azerigyik is a researcher specializing in vector-borne infectious diseases, focusing on arbovirus transmission, vector competence, and environmental drivers of disease emergence. He is currently based at Colorado State University, affiliated with the Center for Vector-Borne Infectious Diseases, contributing to interdisciplinary research on the ecology, emergence, and control of arthropod-borne pathogens. He earned his PhD in Medical Sciences from Tokyo Medical and Dental University, completing doctoral research at the National Institute of Infectious Diseases, Japan. He holds a MPhil in Molecular Cell Biology of Infectious Diseases from the University of Ghana, with training in molecular parasitology and host–pathogen interactions, and a BSc. in Biochemistry from KNUST, Ghana, providing a foundation in molecular biology and biomedical sciences. His research includes studies on arbovirus in mosquito, tick, and midge systems, as well as antiparasitic drug discovery, evaluating bioactive compounds and molecular targets. Funded by competitive grants acknowledged in publications, including the UK Department for International Development, the UK Medical Research Council, the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science, the Japan Agency for Medical Research and Development, the MEXT J-GRID program, and U.S. Department of Agriculture. His work informs surveillance, risk assessment, and interventions for emerging and re-emerging infectious diseases.
