Zbigniew Brytan is an Associate Professor at the Department of Engineering Materials and Biomaterials, Silesian University of Technology, Poland. He received his PhD in Materials Engineering in 2006 and habilitation (DSc) in 2019. His research focuses on stainless steels, corrosion and corrosion protection, surface engineering, and additive manufacturing of metallic materials. His particular interests include duplex and super duplex stainless steels, laser powder bed fusion (LPBF), microstructural characterization, phase transformations, heat treatment, and electrochemical evaluation of corrosion resistance. He participates in international research collaborations and European projects addressing advanced materials and additive manufacturing. Alongside his academic activities, he is an expert in stainless steel selection, processing, and corrosion failure analysis, providing technical consultancy to industry. He is also the author of Vademecum Stali Nierdzewnej, a technical handbook on stainless steels.
