Pinglin Li obtained his B.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Chemistry and
Natural Products Chemistry from Lanzhou University in 2003 and 2008. He is now
the professor of the School of Medicine and Pharmacy, Ocean University of China.
He is also a member of the Chinese Pharmaceutical Society, the Marine Drugs
Committee of the Chinese Pharmaceutical Society, the Medical Geology Committee
of the Chinese Geological Society, the Pharmacology Branch of the Chinese
Society of Oceanology and Limnology, the Qingdao Society of Traditional Chinese
Medicine, the guest editor of Frontiers in Marine Science, and the guest editor
of Molecules. He has won the second prize of Shandong Marine Science and
Technology Innovation Award in 2023, the Shandong Outstanding Youth Fund in
2016, the National Excellent Youth Fund in 2015, the “Aoshan Talent”
Outstanding Young Scholar in 2015 (Qingdao National Laboratory for Marine
Science and Technology Pilot) and other honors. He mainly engages in the
research of functional molecules of marine reef-dwelling organisms such as
sponges, corals and their symbiotic microorganisms, including targeted
identification and guided separation and purification of functional molecules;
chemical structure identification and characterization of functional molecules;
biological activity of functional molecules and their structure-activity
function; discussion on the origin of functional molecules and their
large-scale preparation.
