The development of artificial intelligence (AI) as a field has impacted almost all aspects of human life. More recently it has found a role in addressing developmental challenges, specifically the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). However, there are not enough systematic studies on analysis of the role of AI research towards the SDGs. Therefore, this article attempts to bridge this gap by identifying the major bibliometric trends and concept‐evolution trajectories in the area of AI applications for sustainable‐development goals. The research publication data for the last 20 years in the areas of artificial intelligence, machine learning, deep learning, and so forth, is obtained and computationally analysed using a framework comprising bibliometrics, path analysis and content analysis. The findings show an incremental trend in overall publications on the application of AI for SDGs across the different regions of the world. SDGs 3 (good health & well‐being) and 7 (affordable and clean energy) are found as the areas with the most applications of AI. In SDG3, the literature reflects application of AI techniques such as deep learning for precision and personalised medicine while in SDG7, a number of studies have employed AI techniques for the integration of systems for efficient generation of solar power and improving the energy efficiency of a building. Furthermore, SDG 4 (quality education), SDG 13 (climate action), SDG 11 (sustainable cities and communities) and SDG 16 (peace, justice and strong institutions) are the other SDGs where AI approaches and techniques are applied. The analytical results present a detailed insight of application of AI for achieving the SDGs.

This paper presents our experimental work on a new kind of domain specific feature-based heuristic for aspect-level sentiment analysis of movie reviews. We have devised an aspect oriented scheme that analyses the textual reviews of a movie and assign it a sentiment label on each aspect. The scores on each aspect from multiple reviews are then aggregated and a net sentiment profile of the movie is generated on all parameters. We have used a SentiWordNet based scheme with two different linguistic feature selections comprising of adjectives, adverbs and verbs and n-gram feature extraction. We have also used our SentiWordNet scheme to compute the document-level sentiment for each movie reviewed and compared the results with results obtained using Alchemy API. The sentiment profile of a movie is also compared with the document-level sentiment result. The results obtained show that our scheme produces a more accurate and focused sentiment profile than the simple document-level sentiment analysis.
Document clustering refers to unsupervised classification (categorization) of documents into groups (clusters) in such a way that the documents in a cluster are similar, whereas documents in different clusters are dissimilar. The documents may be web pages, blog posts, news articles, or other text files. This paper presents our experimental work on applying K-means, heuristic K-means and fuzzy C-means algorithms for clustering text documents. We have experimented with different representations (tf, tf.idf & Boolean) and different feature selection schemes (with or without stop word removal & with or without stemming). We ran our implementations on some standard datasets and computed various performance measures for these algorithms. The results indicate that tf.idf representation, and use of stemming obtains better clustering. Moreover, fuzzy clustering produces better results than both K-means and heuristic K-means on almost all datasets, and is a more stable method.
