Background/aim: To evaluate the relationship between the change in pain intensity over days in the menstrual-cycle and cognitive functions in females having primary dysmenorrhea.Materials and Methods: One hundred thirty-four females with primary dysmenorrhea who were admitted to our hospital from January 2021 to November 2023 were assessed. Of these participants, 46 individuals who subjectively stated that their cognitive functions were affected, for whom neurology consultation was requested, and for whom patient data were available, were included in the study. Results: Significant decrease was seen in phonemic fluency and semantic fluency in patients who were evaluated on the 3rd day of menstrual follow-up (p<0.001-and-p<0.001, respectively). Significant decrease was observed in forward-digit span and backward-digit-span scores in patients who were evaluated on the 3rd day of menstrual follow-up (p< 0.001 and p< 0.001, respectively). A significant decrease was seen in forward-digit-span and backward-digit-span scores in patients who were evaluated on the most painful day of menstrual follow-up (p< 0.001 and p< 0.001, -respectively). Significant decrease in logical memory subtest WMS-R in patients who were evaluated on the most painful day of menstrual follow-up (p< 0.001).Conclusion: Consistent with the literature, we found strong evidence showing a negative correlation between dysmenorrhea and cognitive function. Future prospective, larger sample-size studies comparing cognitive function in females with and without dysmenorrhea at various stages of the menstrual-cycle are needed.
Aim: It is very important to uncover the relationship between Hydrosalpinx, which occurs as a result of chronic-inflammatory-processes, and inflammatory markers. Our study aimed to investigate the role of Neutrophil/Lymphocyte Ratio(NLR), Platelet/Lymphocyte Ratio(PLR), and Mean Platelet Volume(MPV) values in the diagnosis of patients who had Hydrosalpinx. Materials and Methods: Our study included 349 patients, who applied to our clinic between March 2018-June 2023, were diagnosed with primary or secondary infertility, and for this reason underwent Hysterosalpingography. A total of 89 patients who had Hydrosalpinx and 260 patients who did not have Hydrosalpinx were divided into 2 groups, and the demographic, clinical data were compared retrospectively. Results: Neutrophil and Platelet levels were found to be significantly higher in the Hydrosalpinx-group than the control group(p:0.000).The presence of Hydrosalpinx was found to be significantly higher in patients who were diagnosed with secondary infertility(p:0.000).Neutrophil and Platelet levels were significantly higher in the bilateral-Hydrosalpinx-group than the unilateral-Hydrosalpinx-group(p:0.036,p:0.012, respectively). The NLR and PLR were found to be significantly higher in the bilateral-Hydrosalpinx-group than the unilateral–Hydrosalpinx-group(p:0.038,p:0.009, respectively). MPV were found to be significantly lower in the bilateral-Hydrosalpinx-group than the unilateral-Hydrosalpinx-group(p:0.011). Conclusion: The findings of our study support the literature data on the relationship between NLR,PLR,MPV, and chronic inflammatory processes. These markers deserve to be evaluated again and again in prospective and controlled studies, in which they will be considered together with clinical findings, to investigate their ability to predict the diagnosis of Hydrosalpinx, its severity, and clinical outcomes in infertile patients.

Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) is an endocrine disorder prevalent in around 6–8% of women in their reproductive years. The measurement of Anti-Müllerian Hormone (AMH) holds particular promise in discerning both the diagnosis and the extent of severity in PCOS cases. This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of using AMH as a potential tool for identifying and diagnosing the severity of clinical aspects associated with the syndrome. A retrospective analysis was performed on 309 female patients who presented for consultation at our hospital’s gynecology outpatient clinic and were diagnosed with PCOS based on the Rotterdam criteria, between January 2018 and March 2022. Data were extracted from the hospital database and systematically assessed. Patients were divided into two groups based on the mean AMH level of 7.5 ng/mL, allowing comparison between higher and lower AMH subgroups. Clinical symptoms and findings were assessed based on AMH values. A statistically significant difference was observed between groups for the mean levels of total testosterone, androstenedione, free androgen index, luteinizing hormone, and follicle-stimulating hormone (p < 0.05). Additionally, a statistically significant difference was noted between AMH groups and the presence of oligomenorrhea (p < 0.05). Even at the higher end of the spectrum, AMH retains significant value in determining the clinical aspects of PCOS.
