The Beijing-Tianjin Intercity Railway (BTIR) is an important transportation hub connecting Beijing and Tianjin. It is the China's first high-speed railway reaching a speed of 350 km/h and has been in operation for ten years. Since the foundation of the BTIR is made up of soft and loose soil, hence suffers greatly from potential deformation. In order to investigate the impact of ground subsidence on the railway line, 26 TerraSAR-X SpotLight images, 23 TerraSAR-X StripMap images, and 31 Sentinel-1 Interferometric Wide images were processed to obtain the deformation of the Yizhuang areas along the BTIR from January 2015 to March 2017 by permanent scatterers interferometric synthetic aperture radar technology. The deformation results of these three datasets are self-consistent. Through the vertical and horizontal deformation of the railway using fusion of the railway deformation results from different line of sight direction, we found that the deformation of the railway line is mainly in the vertical direction. Furthermore, the high precision spatial-temporal evolution of the deformation along the BTIR is revealed. Finally, the advantages and limitations of different SAR resolution are analyzed and summarized.

Arc synthetic aperture radar (ArcSAR) is a ground-based remote imaging technology with the ability to cover wide fields of view. However, because its azimuth is formed by scanning angle rotation, the focusing of ArcSAR images is different from classical SAR focusing. Since the existing imaging methods cannot give a good balance between computational efficiency and accuracy, the wavenumber domain algorithm (WMA) could become an interesting alternative. Due to the fact that in ArcSAR imaging, the slant range measurement depends on a sine term of the scanning angle, no dedicated WMA-based approach for ArcSAR imaging has been formulated yet. The main challenge in this context is that the solution of the stationary phase point cannot be resolved explicitly via Fourier transform (FT). This article proposes a new wavenumber domain imaging method, which exploits the sine law in the process of solving the stationary phase point during FT along the direction of the received echo using the triangular relationship formed by the target, the radar, and the rotation center of radar and then obtains the exact phase error expression in range and angular wavenumber domain without any approximation of the slant range or scanning angle. Using this formulation, we develop the corresponding phase error compensation method and complete image focusing. Through point target simulation and experiments on real ArcSAR data, the effectiveness of this method is verified in terms of imaging accuracy and computational efficiency.

Optical fiber pre-warning systems (OFPS) based on Φ-OTDR are applied to many different scenarios such as oil and gas pipeline protection. The recognition of fiber vibration signals is one of the most important parts of this system. According to the characteristics of small sample set, we choose stochastic configuration network (SCN) for recognition. However, due to the interference of environmental and mechanical noise, the recognition effect of vibration signals will be affected. In order to study the effect of noise on signal recognition performance, we recognize noisy optical fiber vibration signals, which superimposed analog white Gaussian noise, white uniform noise, Rayleigh distributed noise, and exponentially distributed noise. Meanwhile, bootstrap sampling (bagging) and AdaBoost ensemble learning methods are combined with original SCN, and Bootstrap-SCN, AdaBoost-SCN, and AdaBoost-Bootstrap-SCN are proposed and compared for noisy signals recognition. Results show that: (1) the recognition rates of two classifiers combined with AdaBoost are higher than the other two methods over the entire noise range; (2) the recognition for noisy signals of AdaBoost-Bootstrap-SCN is better than other methods in recognition of noisy signals.

The ground-based arc-scanning synthetic aperture radar (ArcSAR) is capable of 360° scanning of the surroundings with the antenna fixed on a rotating arm. ArcSAR has much wider field of view when compared with conventional ground-based synthetic aperture radar (GBSAR) scanning on a linear rail. It has already been used in deformation monitoring applications. This paper mainly focuses on the accurate and fast imaging algorithms for ArcSAR. The curvature track makes the image focusing challenging and, in the classical frequency domain, fast imaging algorithms that are designed for linear rail SAR cannot be readily applied. This paper proposed an efficient frequency domain imaging algorithm for ArcSAR. The proposed algorithm takes advantage of the angular shift-invariant property of the ArcSAR signal, and it deduces the accurate matched filter in the angular-frequency domain, so panoramic images in polar coordinates with wide swath can be obtained at one time without segmenting strategy. When compared with existing ArcSAR frequency domain algorithms, the proposed algorithm is more accurate and efficient, because it has neither far range nor narrow beam antenna restrictions. The proposed method is validated by both simulation and real data. The results show that our algorithm brings the quality of image close to the time domain back-projection (BP) algorithm at a processing efficiency about two orders of magnitude better, and it has better image quality than the existing frequency domain Lee’s algorithm at a comparable processing speed.

Human action recognition based on optical and infrared video data is greatly affected by the environment, and feature extraction in traditional machine learning classification methods is complex; therefore, this paper proposes a method for human action recognition using Frequency Modulated Continuous Wave (FMCW) radar based on an asymmetric convolutional residual network. First, the radar echo data are analyzed and processed to extract the micro-Doppler time domain spectrograms of different actions. Second, a strategy combining asymmetric convolution and the Mish activation function is adopted in the residual block of the ResNet18 network to address the limitations of linear and nonlinear transformations in the residual block for micro-Doppler spectrum recognition. This approach aims to enhance the network’s ability to learn features effectively. Finally, the Improved Convolutional Block Attention Module (ICBAM) is integrated into the residual block to enhance the model’s attention and comprehension of input data. The experimental results demonstrate that the proposed method achieves a high accuracy of 98.28% in action recognition and classification within complex scenes, surpassing classic deep learning approaches. Moreover, this method significantly improves the recognition accuracy for actions with similar micro-Doppler features and demonstrates excellent anti-noise recognition performance.
