Joseph J. Mattapallil received his degree in Veterinary Medicine from the College of Veterinary Medicine, India in 1986 and his Ph.D. from the University of California Davis in 1997. Dr. Mattapallil is a Professor at the Department of Microbiology and Immunology, F. Edward Hébert School of Medicine, Uniformed Services University. His research interests focus on host-virus interactions of emerging and re-emerging viruses, viral pathogenesis, innate and adaptive immunity to viruses, mucosal pathogenesis and immune responses, and the development of animal models and antiviral vaccines.
