Josiah Ochieng, Ph.D., obtained his Ph.D. degree from the Ohio State University, Columbus, Ohio in 1988, followed by post-doctoral training in cancer biology at the Karmanos Cancer Research Institute, Wayne State University (1988-1990). He was then appointed Research Assistant Member at the same institute (1990-1993). He joined Meharry Medical College as an assistant professor in 1993 and was promoted to professor with tenure in 2005. His research interests have been in Molecular Determinants of Cancer Metastasis. He has extensively analyzed the roles of galectin-3 and fetuin-A in the progression of breast and prostate cancer. He is currently a member of the American Society of Extracellular Vesicles.
