Yongshan Zhang is a doctor, professor, and postgraduate supervisor at the College of Agriculture, Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences. He is engaged in cotton genetic breeding and his main research interest is cotton molecular breeding, including the cotton resistance mechanism, molecular regulation of plant types, QTL mapping of cotton plant-type traits, map cloning of cotton zero-type fruit branch genes and other key genes of plant types, and preliminarily establishing a molecular breeding system for the regulation of cotton plant types. He has presided over and participated in more than 30 projects includingthe national transgenic special project, the Natural Science Foundation project, the international cooperation project, the 973 project, the 863 project, the industrial system, the leapfrog plan and the support plan.
