Several graph invariants have been defined and studied, which present applications in nanochemistry, computer networks, and other areas of science. One vastly studied class of the graph invariants is the class of the topological indices, which helps in the studies of chemical, biological, and physical properties of a chemical structure. One recently introduced graph invariant is the face index, which can assist in predicting the energy and the boiling points of the certain chemical structures. In this paper, we drive the analytical closed formulas of face index of silicon carbides Si2C3−Ia,b, Si2C3−IIa,b, Si2C3−IIIa,b, and SiC3−IIIa,b.

Irregularity indices are usually used for quantitative characterization of the topological structures of non-regular graphs. In numerous problems and applications, especially in the fields of chemistry and material engineering, it is useful to be aware of the irregularity of a molecular structure. Furthermore, the evaluation of the irregularity of graphs is valuable not only for quantitative structure-property relationship (QSPR) and quantitative structure-activity relationship (QSAR) studies but also for various physical and chemical properties, including entropy, enthalpy of vaporization, melting and boiling points, resistance, and toxicity. In this paper, we will restrict our attention to the computation and comparison of the irregularity measures of different classes of dendrimers. The four irregularity indices which we are going to investigate are σ irregularity index, the irregularity index by Albertson, the variance of vertex degrees, and the total irregularity index.

We investigate some properties of generalized (\alpha,\beta)-derivations on semiprime rings. Among some other results, we show that if g is a generalized (\alpha,\beta)-derivation, with associated (\alpha,\beta)-derivation \delta, on a semiprime ring R such that [g(x),\alpha(x)]=0 for all x\in R, then \delta(x)[y,z]=0 for all x,y,z\in R and \delta is central. We also show that if \alpha,\nu,\tau are endomorphisms and \beta,\mu are automorphisms of a semiprime ring R and if R has a generalized (\alpha,\beta)-derivation g, with associated (\alpha,\beta)-derivation \delta, such that g([\mu(x),w(y)])=[\nu(x),w(y)]_{\alpha,\tau}, where w:R\rightarrow R is commutativity preserving, then [y,z]\delta(w(p))=0 for all y,z,p\in R.

A vertex v of a connected graph G distinguishes a pair u, w of vertices of G if d(v, u)≠d(v, w), where d(·,·) denotes the length of a shortest path between two vertices in G. A k-partition Π={S 1, S 2, …, S k } of the vertex set of G is said to be a locatic partition if for every pair of distinct vertices v and w of G, there exists a vertex s∈S i for all 1≤i≤k that distinguishes v and w. The cardinality of a largest locatic partition is called the locatic number of G. In this paper, we study the locatic number of paths, cycles and characterize all the connected graphs of order n having locatic number n, n−1 and n−2. Some realizable results are also given in this paper.

We characterize dependent elements of a commuting derivation d on a semiprime ring R and investigate a decomposition of R using dependent elements of d. We show that there exist ideals U and V of R such that U ⊕ V is an essential ideal of R, U∩V = {0}, d = 0 on U, d(V)⊆V, and d acts freely on V.
