Prof. Xiaojun Yan is currently a professor at the Zhejiang Ocean University and Ningbo University. He received his B.S. in chemistry from Fudan University in 1989 and his Ph.D. in marine biology from the Institute of Oceanology, Chinese Academy of Sciences, in 1994. His professional career started in 1994. He worked as a research scientist at the Institute of Oceanology, Chinese Academy of Sciences, from 1994 to 1996. After that, he became an STA fellow at the National Food Research Institute in Japan. From 1999 to 2000, he was a senior scientist at the Institute of Oceanology, Chinese Academy of Sciences. From 2000 to 2002, he was a research associate at the University of Massachusetts, USA. In 2006, he served as a visiting professor at the University of California. From May to July 2008, he was an invited professor at the University of Cadiz, Spain.
