Frank Welle is a chemist who received his doctoral degree from the University of Freiburg, Germany. In 1997 he moved to the Product Safety and Analytics Department of the Fraunhofer Institute for Process Engineering and Packaging (IVV). He has headed the Product Safety and Analytics department since 2019. The focal points of his professional activities include in particular migration testing of packaging materials, the analysis of post-consumer substances in recyclates as well as non-intentionally added substances (NIAS) in packaging materials in general. Determination of the cleaning efficiencies and the food law compliance approval of recycling processes for EU and USA is also part of his work.
