Alejandro Octavio Toro Betancur holds a Ph.D. in Metallurgical Engineering from the University of São Paulo, Brazil. He is a Professor at Universidad Nacional de Colombia, Medellín, Colombia, and the leader of the Tribology and Surfaces Research Group. His research interests include tribology, surface engineering, materials science, abrasion, erosion, cavitation, and wear mechanisms. His research activities focus on the tribological behavior of engineering materials, rolling–sliding contact systems, surface degradation, and the development of engineering solutions to improve the performance and durability of mechanical components.
