Prof. Dr. Francisco J. Barrantes is currently a Professor and the Head of the Laboratory of Molecular Neurobiology, BIOMED UCA-CONICET, Buenos Aires, Argentina (National Scientific and Technical Research Council of Argentina) and owns the highest research career rank in the National Scientific and Technical Research Council (CONICET) of Argentina. He received his M.D. and Ph.D. from the University of Buenos Aires, Argentina, in 1968 and 1973, respectively. Prof. Dr. Francisco J. Barrantes’ fields of expertise are molecular neurobiology and the biophysics of synaptic receptors. He has published more than 300 papers in international journals, including more than 95 reviews/book chapters, and two books on receptors and cholesterol effects on channels and receptors.
