Dr. Tianhai Tian received his B.Sc. and M.Sc. in Applied Mathematics from Huazhong University of Science and Technology and his Ph.D. in Computational Mathematics in 2001 from the University of Queensland in Australia. After submitting his Ph.D. thesis, he was a Research Fellow at the same university. He obtained an Australian Research Fellowship from the Australian Research Council (ARC) in 2006 and subsequently studied computational biology at the Institute for Molecular Bioscience in Queensland. In 2007, he joined the University of Glasgow in Scotland as a Lord Kelvin Fellow and became a Reader in 2009. In 2011, he returned to Australia as an ARC Future Fellow and is now an Associate Professor at the School of Mathematics, Monash University.
