Jiandong Hu obtained Ph.D. degree in 2005 in Optical Engineering from the College of Information Science and Engineering, Zhejiang University, Hangzhou, China.. He is currently a Professor with the Department of Electrical Engineering and the Vice President of College of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering. Henan Agricultural University, Zhengzhou, China. From 2012 to 2013, he was a Visiting Professor at the Department of Atomic Physics, Lund University, Sweden and from December 2018 to April 2019, as Visiting Senior visiting senior professor with the Department of Bioresources Engineering, McGill University, Canada. He is the Principal investigator and funder of the Centre for Advanced Agri-Optoelectronic Research Group (CAAOR).  He has authored or co-authored more than 100 papers in refereed journals and conference proceedings. His research interests include optical (localized) surface plasma resonance biosensors, FBG sensor measurement, advanced agricultural measuring technologies, applied atomic and molecular spectroscopy, optoelectronic signals acquisition and processing
