Margherita Eufemi obtained her Master's degree in Pharmacy from the Sapienza University, Rome, Italy, in 1985, and she was awarded a PhD in Biochemistry from the Sapienza University, Rome, Italy in 1991. She is Associate Professor at Sapienza University. She focuses on biochemical and cellular studies of organochlorine environmental pollutants (ex: beta-Hexachlorocyclehexane) in carcinogenesis in normal and tumor cells and the identification of natural compounds (lycopene, tyrosol silibinin, and apigenin) as being protective against carcinogenesis induced by environmental pollutants, designed for green therapy in populations living in polluted areas.
