This work presents an IoT prototype for vehicle tracking and uses part of the GTFS standard to present to users of a Web page the real-time information of public transport vehicles that make routes in the Zacatenco University Campus of the National Polytechnic Institute of Mexico. The IoT node communicates using LoRa wireless technology with a server where the GTFS standard information is stored, as well as the routes of the vehicles. The IoT node is implemented with an Arduino MKR WAN 1300 board and a MKR Shell GPS module.
In this work, a prototype of intelligent parking for bicycles using IoT is presented. A load sensor is placed on each parking space to report its availability to an Arduino board. The board is responsible for basic sensing operations and transmits occupancy information to a web server using LoRA technology. A server hosts the database that registers the users and the information on the occupation of the parking spaces. Through a Web page, it is possible to visualize the occupation of the spaces, and it also allows to reserve drawers during a window of time. These operations allow the parking lot user to make trips knowing the availability of spaces and even make a reservation, reducing travel time.
In this work, two prototypes of the Internet of Things (IoT) for the Smart Campus Zacatenco are presented. The first prototype is a panic button built with an Arduino MKR WAN 1310 small board computer that already includes communication to the LoRa TTN platform. The second prototype is also built with the same Arduino model, but communication is done with the Sigfox IoT platform and is designed to be installed in vehicles for real-time monitoring. Both prototypes have a GPS to perform geolocation in real time. Both were tested at the Smart Campus with satisfactory results.
