Prof. Dr. Ivan Hand is an Attending
Neonatologist and Director of Neonatology at Kings County Hospital, part of the
New York City Health and Hospitals Corporation. He is a Professor of Pediatrics
at SUNY Downstate College of Medicine and was a former executive member of the
Committee on Fetus and Newborn (CoFN) of the American Academy of Pediatrics
(AAP). He undertook his medical training and pediatric residency at the Albert
Einstein College of Medicine and completed his fellowship in neonatal–perinatal
medicine at the New York Hospital-Cornell Medical Center. He also earned a
master’s degree in clinical research at Albert Einstein. He has held various
leadership positions in the American Academy of Pediatrics, including serving
on the steering committee for the NeoPrep review course and the editorial
board of NeoReviews, an online Neonatology review. He also served as the
District II, New York State representative to the Neonatal–Perinatal Section
executive committee. For the past 20 years, he has worked in the New York City
Public Hospital System as a Director of Neonatology and co-Director of the
Regional Perinatal Center. He is also the Chairperson of the Ethics Committee
of Kings County/SUNY Downstate College of Medicine. His research interests
include nutritional interventions, neonatal outcomes and bioethics.
