Nanostructured ZnO with its unique properties could provide a suitable microenvironment for immobilization of enzymes while retaining their biological activity, and thus lead to an expanded use of this nanomaterial for the construction of electrochemical biosensors with enhanced analytical performance. ZnO-based enzyme electrochemical biosensors are summarized in several tables for an easy overview according to the target biosensing analyte (glucose, hydrogen peroxide, phenol and cholesterol), respectively. Moreover, recent developments in enzyme electrochemical biosensors based on ZnO nanomaterials are reviewed with an emphasis on the fabrications and features of ZnO, approaches for biosensor construction (e.g., modified electrodes and enzyme immobilization) and biosensor performances.
Planar waveguide structure has benefits to expand the exit pupil of the near-eye display. To achieve a uniform output luminance within the expanded exit pupil, a specific distribution of diffractive efficiency (DE) should be set for the out-coupling grating. In this paper, a physical model is built to study the DE distribution of out-coupling grating with consideration of the whole field-of-view. Compared to the previous works which only considered the central view angle, this model is more consistent with the actual situations to realize a uniform imaging output for a waveguide-based near-eye display system. Also a planar waveguide with two holographic volume gratings as the in and out-coupling gratings is fabricated to verify the proposed DE distribution. In experiments, a spatial light modulator (SLM) is applied as the spatial luminance modulator, and the coupling grating with proposed DE distribution is fabricated by the holographic interference exposure setup. The results shows a high consistency between the simulation and the experiment.
A field-emission cathode is fabricated with ZnO tetrapodlike nanoemitters. With a simple planar triode structure, a cathodoluminescent light source has been investigated. Because of the characteristics of surface-conduction electron-emission planar triode, this cathodoluminescent light source shows a very good performance. As experimental results show, the turn-on electric field is about 1 V/mum, whereas the current density is 1 muA/cm2. The threshold electric field is 1.6 V/mum, whereas the current density is 1 mA/cm2. When a pulse voltage with 4% duty cycle is applied on the gate electrode, the fluctuation of anode current is smaller than 15 % during 200 h.
Multilayer waveguide structures can realize full-color AR displays of diffractive waveguides. This paper discusses the field-of-view characteristics of a waveguide system with a multilayer structure when polarization volume gratings (PVG) are applied as couplers to achieve a full-color display. The effects of the refractive index and period parameter of PVG-couplers on the field of view are investigated. In addition, a PVG waveguide sample with an optimized design is prepared. The experimental results show that the designed waveguide system can achieve a full-color AR display with a 45° diagonal field of view, which verifies the feasibility of the design and provides a potential solution for AR color waveguide display applications.

Because of the distortion of scatter pattern when measuring multiple-scattering targets in the condition of not satisfying the far-field condition, existing measurements are not favorable. We present a novel algorithm to research near-field to far-field transformation (NFFFT) for multiple-scattering targets. This paper introduces the method of NFFFT using “multiple emission multiple reception” and then chooses a dihedral angle, which has multiple-scattering structure to simulate. The results show a good agreement with the far-field radar cross section (RCS) pattern. Taking into account the feasibility of design, the cost of system, and other limitations in practical application, the bistatic measurement system with a full 360° is obviously hard to achieve. In the bandwidth-limited scattering field, we give the rule of angular truncation based on the transfer function for reducing receiving region. To make the conclusion more reliable, simulations should be set in different parameters, concluding testing frequencies, target size and measuring distance, to observe their effects on the receiving region. We get the mean error of different receiving region by comparing the results of NFFFT and far-field RCS. As a result, a principle for choosing a proper receiving region, say angular truncation, is summarized for multiple-scattering targets, with mean errors 0.5 dB below the full 360° results near the center of far-field pattern.

An image segmentation algorithm of the restrained fuzzy Kohonen clustering network (RFKCN) based on highdimension fuzzy character is proposed. The algorithm includes two steps. The first step is the fuzzification of pixels in which two redundant images are built by fuzzy mean value and fuzzy median value. The second step is to construct a three-dimensional (3-D) feature vector of redundant images and their original images and cluster the feature vector through RFKCN, to realize image segmentation. The proposed algorithm fully takes into account not only gray distribution information of pixels, but also relevant information and fuzzy information among neighboring pixels in constructing 3D character space. Based on the combination of competitiveness, redundancy and complementary of the information, the proposed algorithm improves the accuracy of clustering. Theoretical analyses and experimental results demonstrate that the proposed algorithm has a good segmentation performance.
