Roberto De Giorgio is currently a Full Professor of Internal Medicine at the Department of Translational Medicine, University of Ferrara, Ferrara, Italy. He obtained his Medical Doctor degree from the University of Bologna in 1984, and subsequently completed his Fellowship at CURE/Digestive Diseases Center, UCLA School of Medicine from 1989 to 1993, with two specialties: one in Internal Medicine (1990) and the second in Gastroenterology (2006) at the University of Bologna. Roberto De Giorgio earned his Ph.D. in “Pathophysiological and Clinical Sciences of the Exocrine Pancreas”, at the Universities of Verona, Padua, and Bologna in 1997. Before his current role, he served as an Assistant Professor and Associate Professor of Medicine (Department of Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology at the University of Bologna); from 2017, he was chair of Internal Medicine (until 2022), and since 2022, he has been on the chair of a Gastroenterology Unit at St. Anna Hospital, University of Ferrara, Ferrara, Italy. Prof. De Giorgio is also the Director of the Specialty School of Emergency Medicine at the University of Ferrara. Since 2012, Roberto De Giorgio has been an American Gastroenterology Association Fellow (AGAF).
