The technique of breaking rocks using carbon dioxide phase transition technology is being widely applied in current research. This article combines theoretical and practical methods to analyze the mechanism by which high-pressure gas breaks rock at different stages. Using the observation that liquid carbon dioxide forms a high-pressure jet from release holes at the moment of release, a formula for calculating the initial pressure on the wall in the direction of release was obtained, and the pattern of initial crack formation on the borehole wall under different initial stress conditions was examined. An experiment using carbon dioxide phase transition technology to fracture rock without an initial stress field was conducted. The mechanism of generation and expansion of subsequent cracks under stress waves and high-pressure gas was analyzed, and the formula for calculating crack propagation radius under stress waves was obtained. The results suggested that under the quasi-static action of high-pressure gas, cracks begin to develop when the stress intensity factor KI at the crack tip is equal to or greater than the fracture toughness KIC of the rock.

Microwave-induced rock fracture is one of the promising approaches of achieving non-blasting continuous mining and assisted mechanical rock breaking. It is of great theoretical and practical significance to study the temperature effect and fracture characteristics of rocks of different sizes under microwave heating; however, there are few studies in this field. Microwave heating of φ 50 × 100 mm, φ 50 × 50 mm, and φ 50 × 25 mm sandstone samples with different heating powers and times was performed to measure the temperature of the sample, the microwave energy absorbed, the mass, and the P-wave velocity before and after heating. The results show suppress that (i) under the same heating conditions, the mass difference and the temperature increase range of φ 50 × 100 mm and φ 50 × 50 mm samples are larger than that of the φ 50 × 25 mm samples; (ii) the wave velocity change rate and the damage factor of samples increase with the increase of heating power and time; (iii) different size specimens have different crack- propagation modes. The main crack of φ 50 × 100 mm specimens usually starts from the middle of the height of the specimen; for the φ 50 × 50 mm specimens, it usually starts from the middle or bottom-end surface of the specimen height; the main crack of φ 50 × 25 mm specimens starts from the vertical surface of the specimen. With an increase in the heating time, the length and width of the main crack continuously increase and secondary cracks are generated. The fracture mode of the sample is also related to the size of the sample. The fracture mode can be divided into three parts: melt fracture, thermal-expansion fracture, and secondary thermal-expansion fracture. The relationship between the sample temperature and the absorbed microwave energy is approximately linear.

Predicting the strength evolution of fiber-reinforced cement mortar under freeze-thaw cycles plays an important role in engineering stability evaluation. In this study, the microscopic pore distribution characteristics of fiber-reinforced cement mortar were obtained by using nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) technology. The change trend of T2 spectrum curve and porosity cumulative distribution curve showed that the freeze-thaw resistance of cement mortar increased first and then decreased with the fiber content. The optimal fiber content was approximately 0.5%. By conducting mechanical experiments, it is found that the uniaxial compressive strength (UCS) of the samples exhibited the ‘upward convex’ evolution trends with freeze-thaw cycles due to cement hydration, and based on fractal theory, the negative correlation between UCS and Dmin was established. Eventually, a freeze-thaw strength prediction model considering both porosity and pore distribution was proposed, which could accurately predict the strength deterioration law of cement-based materials under freeze-thaw conditions.

As environmental requirements become more stringent, the liquid carbon dioxide blasting system is one of the non-explosive blasting technologies that, with low tensile stress energy, will replace the chemical explosive blasting technology, and the impact pressure characteristic of high-pressure fluid is a crucial factor in the process of rock breaking. To further investigate the impact and pressure attenuation characteristics of high-pressure fluid during the phase transition of liquid carbon dioxide blasting system, the pressure curves of high-pressure fluid in liquid carbon dioxide blasting systems at different distances were measured in the laboratory. Based on the mechanism analysis of phase transition kinetics, the initial jet velocity of the four experiments was calculated, and the rationality of results was verified by the Bernoulli equation. The general expression of the positive phase pressure–time function was proposed, and the idealized impact pressure curve can be divided into five stages. The impact pressure field of the liquid carbon dioxide blasting system can be divided into three areas at different distances: the explosive jet impact zone, the jet edge zone and the shock wave action zone, and the pressure–contrast distance fitting equation of the liquid carbon dioxide blasting system were obtained.

To study the occurrence characteristics of hazardous chemical accidents in China, mathematical analysis methods were used to study hazardous chemical fatalities (HCFs) in recent years. This research focused on selecting seven accident characteristics including time characteristics, geographical characteristics, accident type characteristics, hazardous chemical types, hazardous chemical production links, accident cause characteristics, and accident classification. The research results show that: (1) the occurrence of HCFs has obvious time-domain and regional characteristics, the number of casualties on Wednesday working days is the largest, 9:00–11:00 (inclusive) and 15:00–16:00 (inclusive) in a day are the two time periods with the largest number of incidents, the number of hazardous chemical accidents and deaths in economically developed coastal provinces is relatively high; (2) Analyze according to the type of accident statistics, the number of accidents and deaths caused by explosions, poisoning, asphyxiation, and fire are the largest; (3) Analyze according to the type of hazardous chemicals, drugs, compressed gas and liquefied gas, flammable solids, and spontaneous combustion materials, as well as flammable materials when wet are the types of hazardous chemicals that cause the most casualties; (4) Analyze according to the type of hazardous chemical accidents, the number of accidents and deaths caused in the production process is the largest; (5) Analyze according to the type of unsafe behavior by personnel, operator errors, the ignorance of safety, and the ignorance of warnings are the main causes of injuries and deaths caused by hazardous chemicals.; (6) Through single-factor feature analysis and multi-feature comprehensive cross-discussion, countermeasures, and suggestions for preventing and controlling accidents in hazardous chemical enterprises are put forward according to the characteristics of accidents caused by different accident characteristics.
