Biography

Dr. Suzana Samaržija-Jovanović is an expert in polymer science, with research spanning polymer chemistry, elastomers, nanocomposites, polymer characterization, thermal analysis, and materials engineering. Her work combines fundamental research with applied innovation, contributing to both academic progress and industrial practice. She investigates elastomer reinforcement mechanisms and the effects of γ-radiation on the aging of cross-linked systems. Through rheometric analysis, she explores cross-linking and reversion kinetics, activation energies, and degradation behavior, supported by thermal analyses (TG-DTG, DTA). Her research on urea-formaldehyde (UF) resins focuses on reducing free formaldehyde and improving hydrolytic and thermal stability. She studies the impact of γ-radiation and sorbents on formaldehyde retention and emission, aiming to develop safer and more sustainable resin systems. Currently, she explores the use of modified inorganic materials (montmorillonite, zeolite, bentonite) and UF resins as adsorbents for textile dyes and pollutants in water. Her interdisciplinary approach bridges polymer science with environmental remediation and green chemistry, shaping the future of sustainable materials.
