Pervious concrete is a kind of porous and permeable material for pavements and slope protection projects, etc. In this paper, a kind of pervious concrete was prepared with Portland cement, silica fume (SF), polycarboxylate superplasticizer (SP), and limestone aggregates. The performance of concrete, such as its porosity, pore distribution, permeability coefficients, and mechanical properties, were studied through laboratory tests. The volumetric porosity was measured by the water displacement method, and the planar porosity and pore size distribution were determined using image processing technology. A permeameter with a transparent sidewall and an exact sidewall sealing method were used to measure the permeability coefficients accurately. The results show that the segregation index and flow values of pastes increased with the increase of SP and water cement ratio (W/C). The measured porosity (volumetric porosity and planar porosity) of pervious concrete with a single-size aggregate was closer to the design porosity than that with the blended aggregate. Compared with the design porosity selected in this study, aggregate size was the main factor influencing the pore distribution of pervious concrete. The standard deviation of the permeability coefficient was less than 0.03 under different hydraulic gradients. It was found that the relationships between the permeability coefficient and volumetric porosity (or effective pore size d50) approximately obey polynomial function. Based on the test results, the optimized parameters were suggested for practical engineering: W/C of 0.26–0.30; 0.5% SP content; 5% SF content; 15–21% design porosity; and aggregate sizes of 4.75–9.5 mm and 9.5–16 mm.

The diffusion and sealing mechanisms of cement-sodium silicate grout (C-S grout), which is widely used in flowing water sealing projects, are complicated. Based on a large-scale quasi-three-dimensional simulation test platform of fracture dynamic water grouting, an orthogonal experiment of flowing-water sealing of C-S grout was performed. The grout was shown to diffuse in the form of an asymmetric ellipse. The flowing-water sealing process consists of three stages: (1) the grout diffuses to the fracture boundary in an asymmetrical ellipse; (2) the solidified body of grout develops; (3) the stable solidified body forms. The sealing efficiency was evaluated and graded by the reduction of water drainage through the fracture after grouting. Based on the test data, the factors that affect sealing efficiency can be listed in the following order from strong to weak: grout gel time, flowing water velocity, grout take, fracture plane width, and fracture aperture. Finally, a fitting equation was acquired to provide a reference for practical engineering applications.

Grouting is widely used for mitigating the seepage of underground water and enhancing the stability of fractured rock mass. After injection, the viscosity of the grout gradually increases until solidification. Conventional multifield analysis models ignoring such effects greatly overestimate the penetration region of the grout and the stability of the grouted rock structures. Based on the 3D unified pipe-network method (UPM), we propose a novel numerical model considering the time-dependent viscosity of the grout, therein being a quasi-implicit approach of high efficiency. The proposed model is verified by comparing with analytical results and a time-wise method. Several large-scale 3D examples of fractured rock mass are considered in the numerical studies, demonstrating the effectiveness and robustness of the proposed method. The influence of the time-dependent viscosity, fracture properties, and grouting operation methods are discussed for the grout penetration process.

The subsea tunnel of Qingdao metro line 1 has been excavated using the drill and blast method. Blasting vibration during tunneling may cause larger water inflow and even severe security risks and considerable economic losses. However, the prediction of water inflow in subsea tunnels under blasting vibration still remains a challenging problem. Thus, this paper proposes an approach combining tests and numerical calculations for analyzing this problem. The approach is developed by analyzing the mechanical and deformation characteristics of the surrounding rock through a laboratory triaxial compression test and then establishing the strain softening constitutive model of the surrounding rock. Based on the elastic compression theory of porous media and the cubic law of fractured rock mass, we establish and analyze the evolution model of the permeability characteristics during the damage process of the surrounding rock. Then, a Fast Lagrangian Analysis of Continua in 3 Dimensions (FLAC3D) is used to verify the rationality and accuracy of the model. According to the actual blasting design scheme, the surrounding rock constitutive model, and the permeability characteristic evolution model, the blasting process and water inflow of the subsea tunnel is simulated. The amount of water inflow in the subsea tunnel calculated by using the permeability coefficient under blasting vibration (PCuBV) is compared with the measured water inflow and the amount of water inflow calculated by using the exploration permeability coefficient (EPC) and the initial permeability coefficient (IPC) of the surrounding rock. The results show that the prediction of water inflow quantity under blasting vibration is both closer to reality and more reasonable than existing models.

To study the influencing factors on permeability of pervious concrete, by adding inorganic organic composite materials obtained experimental results show that different aggregate size, aggregate cement ratio of different, different water cement ratio on the permeability performance. The permeability of the concrete was tested by using the self - made permeable device. The experimental results showed that the permeation coefficient of the experiment was obtained and the factors influencing the permeability of the concrete were compared and analyzed. At the same time, the porosity of pervious concrete was measured, the influence of various variables on porosity was studied, and the influence of various factors on the permeability of voids was found. Finally, through comprehensive analysis of a variety of factors, the optimal water cement ratio is 0.28. At this time, the pervious performance of concrete is optimal.
