Abeer Elshater is a full professor of Urban Morphology at Ain Shams University, Cairo, Egypt. Currently, she is an assistant to the Egyptian minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research. She is also the general supervisor of the Egyptian Knowledge Bank (EKB). She was a reviewer and expert at the National Authority for Quality Assurance and Accreditation of Education (NQAAE), Egypt. In her previous work at Ain Shams University, she prepared accreditation documents for international institutions (i.e., CIAT and UIA). As a personal investigator, Elshater studies urban heat islands and urban forms as part of the STDF Basic & Applied Research Grants (STDF-BARG 37234) funded by the Science, Technology, and Innovation Funding Authority. Elshater has also worked on international research projects with international universities. She is a co-editor, co-author, and author of several scientific books and manuscripts. Elshater is deputy editor-in-chief of the Journal of Urban Design and Planning, ICE. She is the Regional Studies Association, United Kingdom (UK) Ambassador.
