Asset Urazaliyev, PhD, is Head of the Laboratory of Satellite and Geodynamic Research at the Institute of Ionosphere in Almaty, Kazakhstan. He earned a B.Sc. in Geodesy and Cartography from KazGASA (2012), an M.Sc. in Geodesy from KazGASA (2014), and a PhD in Geodesy from Satbayev University (2025). With over 13 years of experience in geodesy, physical geodesy, and spatial modeling, his career spans industry, academia, and research: geodetic engineer (2012–2019; engineering surveys and civil construction), assistant professor (2014–2015; KazGASA/IEC), and research scientist (2020–present; Institute of Ionosphere). His current work centers on gravity-field modeling, modernization of geodetic and vertical reference systems, and GNSS-based monitoring of geodynamic processes. He serves as the responsible lead for Kazakhstan’s first national gravimetric geoid (QazGM2025) and principal investigator of a postdoctoral grant on modernizing Almaty’s local geodetic network. He completed advanced training in geoid computation at Politecnico di Milano (with ISG support) and collaborates within the IAG/ISG community. His interests include coordinate transformation, geoid/quasigeoid modeling, geodetic networks, and resilient geodetic infrastructure.
